In August, Division of Global Affairs student, Saman Mazahreh will participate in the grassroots diplomacy program conducted by the American Mid-East Leadership Network (AMLN). Damascus University in Syria will host the 3-week program in which dialogue sessions will be held with students, members of the media, and government officials. “This is an exciting program because it is the first of its kind to involve American students going to Syria and vice versa. This experience will provide an excellent path for our generation and also future generations as U.S. – Syrian relations enhance,” said Saman. Adding to the excitement, Al-Jazeera English will follow Saman and his fellow AMLN participants to produce a documentary about the unique diplomacy program.

Saman Mazahreh is a Jordanian-American who was born in Jordan and moved to New Jersey with his family at a young age. Saman earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. in Pharmaceutical Engineering from NJIT. He has been working at Schering Plough Corporation for more than 7 years. Saman started his career at the Schering Plough Research Institute, and advanced through taking on positions of increasing responsibility.
